2000 Ford Explorer Sport RPM drops
I plugged the mirror and it worked. BUt then when I went to turn the headlights off, the switch to the headlight would not turn them off. I tried using the FOB, closing all doors properly, and they wouldn\t turn off. I also noticed
that the driver side headlight burnt out. It was working before. Thinking what changed I figured it was plugging the rear view mirror in, so I unplugged it and I was able to turn off the headlights again.
Now It's been a few months and just recently I noticed on the freeway my RPM dropped to 0 WHILE i was driving. How can my RPM be zero if I am driving 70mph? When I came to a stop at a light the vehicle almost died out.
I let go of the brake and it coughed and stayed on. So this RPM thing has been happening more often now. I can tap panel and sometimes it pops back up, (anolog console). What can cause this?
In the meantime, when the RPMs drop to 0 while driving 70MPH, does the car slow down at all or is it just a gauge problem?
How old is the battery?
What is the voltage at idle with all accessories turned on?

The car does not slow down, just the gauge drops. If the RPM is at zero when I come to a stop, it feels like it wants to shut down. I slow down way ahead of the car in front of me so
I have time to try to keep it going. If I tap on the gauge and it pops up to normal, I can come to a complete stop and it wont die out.
I bought the battery a few days after I bought the car. So it's only a few months old.
