High height jack stands ??

High height jack stands ??
Looking for thoughts on tall jack stands like in the link below. Would be using them around the farm, etc. for any support needed beyond a normal stand. Brands? Quality? Features? Thanks.

I'm sure there safe but don't understand the use of them. First you need to get the vehicle up that high. Only way I know how is with a hoist. So why not just work under the hoist. They are handy for taking out transmissions when by yourself but you still need to lower it after being unbolted.

well as with anything, the jack stand used is only as good as the foundation it is sitting on. a level concrete pad? fantastic!
a unlevel field dirt sideroad? the stand will be about as good as stack of cinder blocks with holes facing sideways.

Sounds like they will be good for you. Especially, as earlier poster mentioned, you're using them on flat durable surfaces.
On a related note, I would really like two sets of four heavy-duty saw horses. One set at normal saw-horse height and the other set at half height.
I own countless kind-of-cheesy saw horses...all at the normal height.
