The heater core box is not too hard to remove, I did it a few years back to replace the heater core, it was a $25.00 at the time. Just checked my records, that was May 2014, 5000 miles ago. Wow, time flies.
You may try asking google how too ..... Let me get that for you
Oh, I keep a Tom Cat mouse block under the seat, I can get a bag of them from my local Lot's & More still for under $7.00. Have those blocks placed around the sheds, basement, garage etc.

removed the dash and Im glad I did. Pulled out some of the plastic vent. Big 3” ball of mouse house in there. Cleaned it out and blew out everything back there with an air hose.
I found out as well that the chime key in ignition box was disconnected.
I plugged it back in and now my emissions light comes on. It hasn’t in probably 15 years. I asked My mechanic was to fix the emissions issue that kept turning the light on. Instead he unplugged the buzzer which the emissions is tied into? 🤷♂️
any way it’s cleaned out and also I oiled all the linkage for the blower levers.
now I’ve got some break issues to sort out exhaust things to do and a few other issues. I’ve got one cab mount that needs more steel.
my wife asked why I keep fixing this truck. Then we drove by a 2009 with 300,000 miles on it for sale for 25,000. I said that’s why.
