Twins for the Navi?

Ok, so I've used this site for a lot of different reference points over the years, but this will be my first ever post. I've done plenty of engine swaps here and there and necessity has been a main source of motivation and learning as I've grown over the years. I'm isn't so much as a "can it be done?" Sort of question, I love when I'm told something can't be or is to difficult, as it just motivates me more (more of a curse really). I'm looking for insight as to, "has anyone tried anything similar to this and what are some things I'm probably over looking so I can be better prepared. OK. The project vehicle: 2003 Lincoln Navigator (was) 5.4L with the airbag delete. Replacement engine.... 6.4L International Twin turbo, 2008 donor truck. It's all there, engine, trans, wiring harness and computer. I've already sourced a set of 4x4 axles from a 2004 f-350 power stroke (singles, not the dually setup, altho could you imagine...) I know I'm going to have to use the computer from the donor for the engine management, alongside the computer in the Navi for the rest of the factory features such as lighting, reverse sound monitor auto doors etc, I'll find my way around that later on, and i also realize that the suspension on the Navi is similar to a f150 if anything, so the whole drive train needs upgrading. I love my torque, and occasional smoke, and I came across this setup as a trade for some other vehicles that where sitting around. So spending money on an engine rebuild is out of the question, I'm not going to sell the Navi to turn around and buy a diesel truck or something better suited, this is the "Project". Just wondering, and I know the 6.4's reputation, BUT has anyone out there swapped the 6.4l INTO something else and had success? My budget is non lol I've worked welding and fab most my life so little things like suspension, engine mounts and exhaust work isnt an issue, but will the trans (kinda) fit under the cab? Will the sending unit be enough to fuel the high pressure Piezo injection or am I already looking for a bullydog unit? Any advice or previous experience much appreciated, thank you everyone in advance... And yes, again, the 6.4. I have no other option as of lately except let it keep sitting, and I Miss driving my Navi, so this is the route. Sorry I can just already hear the naysayers lol

😅😮‍💨

Best wishes on your project.

Frankly, I doubt you’ll find anyone claiming to swap a 6.4 into a different platform when most folks who inherit a 6.4 in some manner swap it for something like a Cummins as soon as they can.

The 6.4 is a magnificent boat anchor, so I’d hit up the nearest marine dock and offer that to an offshore vessel.

Semi joking aside, the Navi needs a body lift to slip that Torqshift underneath. All the gas engine doohickeys need to go.

Thanks, ill need all the luck i can get lol and idk, i guess I've swapped stuff around enough that even a "temporary" swap dousnt sound so bad. I know that the 6.4 had PLENTY of issues, and seeing that this one actually runs fine and operates, it ahould be MORE than enough to power the Navi, especially since i wont be pulling any goosenecks or hauling equipment around with it lol now the truck would be a different story... Ya i wasnt able to find anyone swapping the 6.4 to keep, like you said. Man i sold my 12V a yr or 2 back, that would have been such an easy swap, oh well tho. I just gotta get SOMETHING out together at this point

I ordered a 6.4 in early 09. It was a Job 2 05/09 build. Only major issues they suffered were lack of maintenance, lack of full regens, and random piston cracking. My truck was totalled at 110k. I deleted it at 9k as I had three regens in one tank...went from 8.5 to 10mpg city alone.

It has compound turbos, not twins. A 71mm atmo adds about 100rw on the top end of power band with the stock 52mm VGT. The K16 pump can barely keep rail pressure on a max tune, dual kits were around. I cut a 12.9 @ 105 with stock snails, CCLB 4x. Low stall from PI, built 5R110W. On hot street tune from Gearhead. Tow tune was wild how low the EGTs were due to the amount of air, still made hair over 400rw.

Anyway, the EGR coolers can leak. One of mine opted to do so, I had block off plates on it at the time. Then just removed them . Same with the EGR throttle body thing.

Anyway, the thing is massive so I have no idea how it will fit under the hood. What will you do for the brakes?
