Question Wire protection material?

Any recommendations for material (other than split plastic tube) for protecting wiring? Ideal product would be a woven type of product that is split. Have some plastic woven material now that I got at a local auto store for a small project. Downsides are not being split so it has to be installed before doing any connectors, etc. and that it frays at the ends after cutting so I ended up taping at the ends. Thanks.

Is there a reason? Looks? The factory uses the split plastic loom.

Want something that helps protect the wire but I have always felt like the split plastic tubing is finicky to work with in some situations.

Any type of woven loom can't be split or the weave will fall apart

Plastic split wire loom comes in different temperature ranges. The cheap stuff is soft and low temperature. Loom for the engine bay is designed for high temperature and is usually identified by a white stripe.

Tesa tape is the pro choice for making tape looms. There are two basic types: strong high temp tape and soft poly tape. The soft tape is for internal wiring and limits rattling. The high temp tape is for the engine bay. It has adhesive that won't break down under the heat and the tape is super strong. It must be cut with a knife (can't tear it off the roll).

Here's the strong stuff.
