There is nothing to put the vehicle into "4 wheel drive". I know, it's all wheel drive. Our driveway is steep and I want every advantage for the Mrs'.
There is a drive mode **** that changes from: normal, eco, sport, slippery, rainy, deep sand/snow. Does deep sand/snow essentially put it into 4WD? Traction control can also be turned off/on. Thanks
The different drive modes just adjust traction control sensitivity, throttle response, and other little things, I don’t think it changes the behavior of the AWD system. And it is an AWD system and not 4wd.
On the lower right side of the rear hatch is an emblem "4WD". How if anything does this make a difference?
What about the "traction control" button? Is the computer supposed to be smarter? Is that something only to turn off after getting stuck, in an attempt to "rock your way out"?

These cars are technically AWD but Ford advertises it as Intelligent 4wd. It makes a huge difference because if it wasn’t AWD it’d be RWD and probably worse in snow. You could turn traction control off to rock your way out, otherwise unless the traction control is stopping you power wise of getting you out, it usually helps by not just letting the tires spin.
