Bought a “rebuilt” 8ba-which way should pistons face?
Hello all,
I have a 48 F1 that I am going to put a 8ba into.
In the process of going over the motor I bought, I see some of the pistons are not installed correctly(?) The marks are not all pointing the same direction.
What is the reason all marks are to be facing toward front of block?
Is there a reason?
Its crunch time, I told everyone I’d have it on the road this summer.
The reason the pistons are directional is because the wrist pins are offset/not centered in the pistons. This makes them load the cylinder wall and reduce noise.
