I checked the freon and it is ok. (actually a bit high). I noticed radiator fan not working when the AC is on. (car is warmed up and has been idling for a while) Fan is a little ways down and a hot engine, so I gave the fan a few spins with a long screwdriver to see if it is locked up. A couple turns nothing, once in a while I can get a bit of a spin. Kind of like a weak connection wanting to make it spin. (a turn or 2) After messing with it a bit must have been getting warm and the fan kicked in on high speed. It ran for a minute and then shut off again.
What do I look for? or what controls the low (or is there a medium speed) for the fan? Some kind of module?? I am guessing not a fuse since it kicked in on high for a while.
I always tend to answer my own questions. The module is on the back of the fan. Rock wants about $150 for it. Amazon was $20 and has about 90 reviews giving it about 4.5 stars. Before I order I should check out the fuse under the hood by the battery. Most likely the module, but net searches show the fuse can get intermittent. Supposed to be #8 50 amp.
