FOB for newer escapes (2020-2024) Canada versus US
I see some discussion about this around the net and continue to look but was wondering if there are internal differences between keyless remote / fob for these truck in Canada versus the US? I have seen things like "only the dealer can program" which sounds kind of strange along with the usual "non-OEM" units won't work, etc... I know there might be some frequency differences but beyond that is there some sort "country code" embedded in the system that only allows certain units to function with certain "country models". Of course, in canada, we get the "privilege" of paying a "bit more" for everything including the vehicle itself. I have a non-canadian model truck from another maker and have run into a few gotchas on things including anti-theft systems.
Is it as simple as matching FCC Id's with an existing working unit and getting a local "autolock smith" to program?
