Grinding in reverse

Recently bought a 93 F150 4.9L with an auto transmission. Recently when I put it in reverse it sounds like the gears are grinding and gets worse while it sits in reverse and isn’t so bad while moving. Anybody had this issue before and know what the cause is?

Welcome to FTE

You know you posted in the motor area and not the drive train area that I think is below https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum69/
I am guessing you have a AOD transmission?
Is the ATF level full?
