In a small 3 pack relay to the rightish of the instrument underish the radio area. Has a cover on it with 1 big relay which is turn signal flasher. Then 2 small ones. One fuel pump and one trailer running lights I believe it is.
2001 F250 SD 7.3 SWD Automatic 4x4
So after tearing the dash apart only to find out that the fuel pump relay does not live behind the dash. I pulled all three relays out behind the dash, and the truck cranked up much to my surprise!
So where does this fuel pump relay reside you ask? On my truck, it lives under the hood on the driver side fuse box. It's the third square relay from the firewall on the fender well side of the fuse box. Lesson learned, pull the fuse box relay and crank the engine over to see if it starts or not before tearing into the dash and wasting time....
On a 99-01 7.3 truck the fuel pump relay is definitely in the dash. 02-03 7.3 they are rebuilt in the dash fuse box and not serviceable. You more then likely pulled pcm or idm relay under the hood which will definitely cause it to not run. They will still fire up with fuel pump relay pulled. Just won't run long.
well, lucky enough it's an easy enough task either way.
I was under the impression that it was bad and you were looking to replace it.
sounds like you wanted to pull it for troubleshooting or something. could have just pulled the fuse for the fuel pump if that was the case, but i'm a little confused on the reasoning.
I could be mistaken, but one would think the relays/ fuses would be labeled on the covers. on the bright side, you got it figured out.

Nope no markings of any kind identifying fuses or relays at their location. You have to dig out the owners manual to figure out what's what. More than a little annoying on more than one occasion.

Thanks, maybe I didn't look in the proper location as i don't see under hood or under stereo relay info in my manual. I'll have to take a look at my truck but i take your word for it.
I also don't remember the 4x4 relays being marked either. i do know my 03 is different than other years as well

I'm wanting to say mine showed them around page 150-160ish. It's about 2/3 of the way through. Maybe there's an index that lists a page #. I think I remember there being one, but I could be wrong. It has happened once or twice... Maybe three times... This morning.
