Been thinking of changing out the muffler that came on my truck as it sounds very choppy. I run the aero turbine muffler on my other truck and seem to like it pretty well but was exploring options and ran across this on another thread. Just wanted to see if anyone is running this resonator and how they like it. Thanks for any help
I have run both lengths of the fte resonator, they do well at cutting drone and in cab noice.
Currently I am running the Aero Turbine xl, I feel it does a good job, while remaining much more free flowing
You like the aero turbine better? I will probably stick with that since I like it on my other truck. Was reading a old thread where Tugly said he ran his backwards and it worked better? not sure if he was referring to sound/ drone or egts.

this is a 4" Walker that I am considering for my truck, as it has a straight 4" pipe, no muffler at all.... and when you are on the Exhaust side of the truck, it has a Very Loud high frequency "hiss" sound or "roar"
depends on the human who describes it.
I ran the resonator, shortly before I yanked it - the whistle went away with the resonator. If I tow a lot more, I may put it back because of the drone factor being bumped up in priority. Wrapping the exhaust helped with drone on Stinky (4"), but I haven't wrapped the exhaust on Frankenstinky (5")... yet.
Either works very well, I think the FTE resonator cuts a bit more noise/drone, and the Aero turbine is a bit better flowing, which likely doesn't matter much at most common power levels.
For both of them I installed just behind transmission crossmember. The Aero turbine I currently have has a high flow muffler in factory location, When I ran the FTE I had a walker BTM back there, the Walker developed a rattle at idle which drove me bonkers, I saved the FTE resonator for use on another truck should I get one someday..

Hey Tugly, Good to see you are still posting on here. Are you still running the aero turbine muffler backwards?
I'm also running a aeroturbine xl. 5" exhaust and it would drone bad pulling. Put on the aeroturbine and it got rid of it. I've been happy with it. There is a copy of it that's supposed to be exact same thing for little cheaper. Made by Jones exhaust or something like that. They use the same numbers like 40/40xl.

Thanks tpayne, yeah I did see the Jones version, apparently the only thing that it lacks is some sort of proprietary lip inside the muffler which I'm not sure if that does anything proprietary or not. I put the aero turbine 4040 XL on my Christmas list so we will see if Santa is able to come through
