Stalling- Codes 212, 327, 328, 332
My bronco has been stalling on me intermittently. It'll happen sometimes when I'm cruising in second gear, sometimes it'll happen when I'm idling. When it does stall, it'll usually stall again if I crank it up immediately. This will often happen 2-3 more times as well if I keep trying to crank it. If I let it sit for 30 seconds-1 minute, it'll start up, drive for a while, and then probably stall again. When it does stall, I don't lose any power to lights, radio, etc. I've had it for a couple of years now, and the idle has never been great. It wanes up and down, and in the past couple of months, it has developed a bit of a deep pop in the engine, almost like a backfire on a carburetor engine? I put a video down below of my engine idling. Also, I live in Montana at about 4,000 feet of elevation and it has started to get cold out fast, which is about the time the stalling issue started to occur. Anyways I'll start by listing things I've looked at/fixed since I've had this problem:
Cleaned IAC
Replaced EGR pressure feedback sensor
Topped off all fluids
Replaced air filter
Here are some things I've fixed in the past:
Replaced alternator and battery
Replaced radiator and thermostat
And here are the codes I'm getting from my Innova code reader after letting the engine getting to operating temp:
212- loss of ignition diagnostic monitor signal/SPOUT circuit grounded
327- EVP/EPT circuit below minimum voltage
328- EGR valve voltage lower than expected
332- Insufficient EGR flow detected
634- Manual Lever Position sensor voltage higher or lower than expected or A/C on*
*double checked- my A/C was not on
Any help would be appreciated. I'm just hoping somebody has an idea of what direction I should head down first since I don't have a lot of money to put into this truck.
Thanks in advance.
Have you replaced the TFI module or the stator in the distributor?
The module needs to be black not grey, or code 212 is the result
If yours is stalling I would run it around with a spark tester in line with the coil wire
If you verify the spark goes away and then it stalls, you are on to something
It would then most likely need a new TFI module, stator or ignition coil
Don't just throw parts at it, and use Ford parts on what you do replace, especially ignition parts.
