Mine (also17) has been acting up for a couple years. The picture won’t always be the same exact issue and sometimes it conks out completely. The next time I put it in reverse it will be perfect! It may go for quite a while and not act up. I also thought it might be the heat, which it seems to act up more in the summer but it has done it in cooler temperatures also.
I wondered if it might be a connection. I’m not sure if moving the shifter is specifically what turns it on or if there’s a switch or electrical sensor or module for it.
There are some backup camera recalls for the SD, mine doesn’t seem to have one at least not yet. I’ve read some threads on here where owners have replaced it themselves with OEM or aftermarket, it didn’t sound too difficult.
On my 15 the wiring connections were corroded but that was discovered only after the dealer replaced the camera twice. Yes intermittent bizarre images, then “see dealer,” then completely blank.

Surprisingly, the camera began working correctly today………go figure. If it happens again I will check the electrical connections, and also check to see if my truck camera is on the recall list.
Yeah mine kept working more than it didn’t so I quit worrying about it. Like I mentioned before most of the time it would work again the next time it was put in reverse.

Thanks all !!
Might as well check and have it done today. It took me a while since it was on recall but they didn't have parts.
