I've had a 2wd '78 F-250 in the shop for a couple weeks now and its finally time to throw some new tires and wheels on it. To avoid up-charging, I plan on ordering the tires/wheels to my house and then taking them to my mechanic. Without a body lift, will 33x10.5x15r's fit on the truck? Pretty new to the game and don't have a lot of background knowledge (but I know the look im aiming for). Any additional info is always helpful.
Thanks!
Yes they will. I had 265/75/16 on some chrome spokes. And I put some 33x12.50x16.5 on my silver truck. I am not sure of the old school white spoke back spacing/offset. I did not like how close the front tires got to the top fender lip, close enough that I was worried about damage when I took it off road. (sorry no pic) So I added a 80 dollar add-a leaf to the front for a 1.5" lift. I know it looks "bulldoged", in the later pics, but it is not. It was setting on some uneven ground for those pics.
2wd probably NOT fit.

Reason: I re-read the thread.
What's does "fit" mean to you? Your truck seems to sit high in the front, so i think 33's would fit, but I like the truck posted above with the stuffed tire look and will deal with a big fat tire stuffed in the wheelwell if it rubs. I ran 36 x 12.5 x 16.5s on a stock height 4x4 '79 f250 and they rubbed on the fenders horribly so i took a sawzall to it and they still hit the leaf springs when you turned hard. You could probably find a taller front spring, or a spring spacer, to get a little more room if you do want to run the 33's.
I think I am going to end up going with 265x75x16r BF Goodrich KO2's. They seem to be a happy medium between the 33's and 31's. I'm also planning on buying the polished Pro Comp 69 series wheels. Checked the bolt pattern, offset, etc.. and everything seems to line up nicely. Hoping for the best!
Do they even make 15 inch 8 lug wheels to fit an F-250. That supercab above must be an F-150 as it has 5 lugs.
From the factory normally you got 15" rims with a 2wd/4wd F100/F150 1/2 ton/5 lug. And 16.5" rims for a 2wd/4wd F250 3/4 ton 8 lug. 15" rims would not clear the duel piston disk brake calipers.
Also FYI all 4wd reg cab F100/F150's have coil spring and radius arm front suspension. UNLESS you got a 4wd Super Cab that is a 5 lug 1/2 ton, you got a Dana 44, but had leaf spring front suspension. That is the only way to get a leaf spring front suspension on a 4wd F100/F150.
And all 4wd F250 8 lug 3/4 reg can and super cab had leaf spring front suspension.

I always wondered why they didn't make the 4x4 F150 SC with the coil front suspension. The way these frames are built the 150/250/350 are the same from behind the front cradle area back. It seems like it'd be easy, and cost effective, enough to swap out for the longer rear SC frame rails and marry them to the F150 front cradle section when the frame was getting welded together at the factory. Not to mention they had to then contract with Dana/Spicer to make a one model only 5 lug hub, leaf sprung front 44 axle.

Just to be clear, the 16" rims I plan on buying should clear the brakes on the front and rear of the truck correct? You mentioned 15"s wouldn't, just want to be sure before buying.
I feel that they just uses the existing F250 SC frame and suspension and just slapped some F150 5 lug 1/2 ton axles to sell them as "1/2" ton vehicle. And not the heavy duty 3/4 ton vehicle.
16's is the common upgrade from 16.5 rims. You just need to make sure your back spacing/offset is correct.
