Fuel reservoir modification for single tank instead of two
I want to only run one tank instead of both, I do not want to invest 429 bucks from lmc for a single function reservoir assembly. My question is: where the supply and return lines from the unused tank connect to the reservoir can I just put a loop there or should I just seal them off with no loop or should I put a wye in the lines so that I can connect the one tank to both spots? How can I mod this thing to run just one tank?
Simple just don't flip the switch to the other tank.
At least on the diesel setup, this would work. On the diesels, they have a selector valve on the frame and it determines from which tank the fuel is pulled and returned. Single pair of lines from the valve to the engine and back. You could just remove that valve and run new lines straight from your single tank up to the engine.
You can plug the lines by taking a dead fuel filter cannister & cutting off the long end & crushing, then folding/flattening the cut end to seal it.
The larger 3/8 connector can be plugged with a joint of 3/8 copper tube also flattened/folded, then inserted into the connector.
I also put a dab of silicon in the tube before flattening. If you're really worried it won't seal, you can take some JB weld metal stick & make a "pill" to stuff into the tube plug & pack with a drill bit end.
Install the line clips to keep the plugs from blowing out.
Another way is to chop the output/input lines off a dead pump hanger, seal, crimp & plug.
But you ruin a hanger if not corroded away or other wise rebuildable.
