I’m installing hood on my 51 f1. The hood mounting points have a threaded shoulder that the hinges slide over. I am bit confused as the bolts bought through Dennis carpenter also have a shoulder (see photo attached). According to them they are correct bolts. But the bolt shoulder combined with the hood shoulder is twice as wide as the thickness of the hinge arm. That makes for a sloppy fit. For whatever reason I can’t figure out is it supposed to be a sloppy fit. I would think i should only have one shoulder which is exact thickness of hinge arm. What am I missing.
My 49 is the same way I went to the hardware store and bought some more washers like that came with the bolts. Make sure you do tie them with safety wire using the holes drilled in them

Those are 53-55 or 56 hood hinge bolts with wave washers..
So i've got the exact same problem. What is the solution everyone goes with?
The shoulder is way too wide with the bolts fully tightened. Its like there is a thick washer missing or something.
It makes the hinges floppy and loose.
It seems you may have the wrong bolts in the wrong places.
My Ford Documentation shows Ford Part 350357-S8 being used for 38-52 Trucks (Except COE) for the hood hinge bracket to cowl links links. This is a 1/4-28x3/8 Zinc Plated Hex Head Bolt with a hole through the head. There is no shoulder. These are accompanied by 33795-S7 1/4-28 Cadmium plated Nut and 1/4 Zinc plated split lock washer.
Also listed is Ford Part 351714-S7 being used 48-52 for the hood hinge to hood which is a 1/4-28x3/4 with a 17/64 long shoulder between the head and threads.
I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. And a lot of the same people above helped me on my thread.
As has been said those pictured are the wrong bolts. I bought the correct ones from Chuck Trucks LLC. Also Bob Selsam on eBay NJ parts had some. I don’t think they’re reproducing those ——the ones I bought look used or dead stock.
