P1554 Code help

So, I have been getting the P1554 code CEL for a while. When I clear it, it will not come back on until I run the truck (over 100 miles), stop and as soon as I restart it the CEL P1554 shows up. Truck runs flawless. I guess my question is, is this truly a failure or could it be a connection problem? I have a Launch Pro Elite programmer and accord their web site it shows it can do the IQA change but I have not been able to figure out to get into the right area to find it. I chatted with their tech support and they guided me to the capabilities but nothing on instructions. lol
I need to try and repair this myself as my nearest dealer is a long drive and I don't trust them anyway. Any help for this old man would be appreciated. I am not a rookie at mechanical work or diesels. I have kept all my tractors and my 2000 7.3 running for years. Thanks

was curious so I googled itMake:FordCode:P1554Definition:Cylinder 4 Injector Circuit Range/PerformanceDescription:This DTC sets when the output of the fuel injector circuits are not within a calibrated limit.Cause:

INJ4 circuit open
INJ circuit short to ground
INJ4RTN circuit open
INJ4RTN circuit short to voltage
Damaged fuel injector

my comments...I had a 6.4 once that had injector codes so bad that it wouldnt start. I opened the engine bay fuel filter and poured a bottle of injector cleaner into the filter housing...re-install. then did a key on and off about 10 times. then started it. after the sound of someone droping a tool box went away...the engine ran fine.

so...have you tried injector cleaner?

No I haven't tried injector cleaner. I keep an algicide in the fuel but that is about it. I can sure try that though.
Just funny if I clear the code I can run it till I shut it off, next restart it will throw code. Their description makes it sound like it is either shorted, open, or shorted to voltage. To me that would throw a code most all the time. lol Will toss some injector cleaner in it and try that first. Thanks

Update! I just changed the oil in the truck for the first time. I had a maintenance package on it till now. Changed the oil and it took 14 quarts to bring it to the full mark even after letting it sit to drain down. I see most people say it only takes 13 quarts which is what my 7.3 takes. Anyway, started the truck the CEL went right out. The injector fault went away. I thought the 6.7 injectors were piezo fired. Are they still pressurized with oil like the 7.3L?

Just another update. I took the truck into town about thirty miles. The code did not come back until I shut it off and went to restart it. CEL came back on. lol
