EGR Valve replace - should I also replace cooler core?
Hey team.
I have the P2073 code, along with some EGRT and EGT codes, and my thoughts are to replace the EGR Valve. Truck is 2012 F350 6.7L C/C and I have no idea if the cooler core has ever been replaced or not. Currently we do NOT have the P0401 flow code.
Should I replace the cooler core along with gaskets, etc while I have the valve off?
Any advice on NOT breaking the exhaust header to EGR tube bolts? PB Blaster, and remove them immediately after a nice hot drive? I'm betting the bolts haven't been touched since new in 2012.
What are the other codes? That would help. By itself, P2073 can be several things :
Leaks or restrictions in the intake air system and charge air cooler (CAC)
Leaks or restrictions in the crankcase ventilation system
Damaged mass air flow (MAF)/intake air temperature (IAT) sensor
Biased MAF/IAT sensor
Damaged exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve
P2073 can be the cause of the other codes or the effect of the other codes. Need more info to help - and I would only replace the cooler if diagnosis shows it is restricted, which on your year, was common in trucks that did a lot of idling, around town, plowing, etc. If diagnosis condemns the EGR valve, I would only change that IMO.
