There are several reasons too numerous to list in this small space. It has to be done the right way, though. Used to it was just unplugging with the ignition off, but if the valve is carboned and it sticks open just a .00000001 mm then you have problems.
AND for what it's worth.........THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION HERE. everyone had to learn at least once, right???
