I own a 2003 F150 Fx4 5.4L and I had a couple questions regarding electrical Fans. Have anyone had any experience with Flex-A-Lite 270 Dual Electric Fans or TSP HC7106 Pro Series Dual 11" Fans? The Flex-A-Lite is almost 4 times more expensive ($493 vs $145) but it's CFM rating is 5,500 compared to the TSP at 2,780. Also, the TSP draws 25 AMPs from the system while the Flex-A-Lite draws 28 AMPs. Will the extra AMPs matter? Will I need the extra CFM rating that the Flex-A-Lite provides? How are both in terms of quality? Both have a one year warranty. My final question is, are there any better options?
2 things matter, as far as you are concerned. 3 amps is not one of them. 1 is performance. Will it cool adequately? Do the fans offer enough CFM to cool your coolant and ATF? 2 is build quality. Is the manufacturer reliable? Are their parts any good? You can save a lot of money with fans and controllers on eBay motors and Amazon. But those lower cost parts may not 6as reliable.
I have used Flex-A-Lite and Derale fans. Both are good. The controllers I have used were the older model relay type, with a temperature probe. Simple system. Sometimes the fuse blows, sometimes the relay melts, sometimes the fuse holder melts, sometimes you buy a new "kit" and start all over again. The fans never failed. The controllers fail. You can buy kits. Or buy the fans and controllers separately. There are a lot of options. Do some more reading. Get more feedback.
IF yiu dont mind making yiur own shroud I would go find a Lincoln Mark 8 dual speed fan. Those things are awesome. Another good one is a dual fan off a F body Camaro. most aftermarket fans are very optimistic in CFM rating
