1997 Ford F-350 (OBS)
7.3L PowerStroke Turbo Diesel
4x4 Single Cab with 8ft Bed (Former Salting Truck/Plow)
Its a SRW originally and I thought it would be cool to convert it to DRW, I've already swapped out the front DANA 60 Hubs for DRW and installed Dually Wheels all around on 285/75/16
My Question is Should I be carrying a Spare ? (Sorry this might seem stupid) I've never had Spares with with my Other Dualies but since she will be an Offroad/Overlanding Rig should i ?
And where would you guys Mount the spare ?
- Swing Gate Like the 88 Bronco ?
- Bed Mount like a Baja Truck
- Front Bumper Mount (seen a few)
Thanks in advance and open to suggestions or recommendations
I've always carried a spare in any of my trucks, I also always keep good tires on them, however, I have blown beads (when aired down in snow/mud and hit a root) had a slice in one, that fortunately I was able to get to hard ground before it went flat, was able to drive out of the woods each time. Flats happen, I wouldn't go off-roading/overlanding without one personally. Most of mine are in the bed, when I go hunting, I just take it out in the evening when bedding down for the night, and chuck it back in in the morning when I roll out.
Where to mount... the possibilities are endless, although having been in snow and mud, I won't have one mounted underneath on any of my trucks now!
