No fuel issue

My 94 f150 5.8 went for a swim a few months ago. I drained the tanks, filled with fresh premium gas, new fuel filter, plugs, oil/filter. Computer got toasted so I’ve replaced it with an exact match. I can only get it to run if I dump gas down the intake. I have a pressure gauge on the rail and I’m running good pressure koeo and while running. Runs pretty decent when it’s running but will die out as soon as the gas from the intake is gone. What are good areas to check?

What would good pressure be? Does it drop off as the engine is running or stay constant? Are the injectors firing? There is very little between the rail and the injectors that could restrict fuel flow except non-firing injectors.

I don’t think the injectors are firing. Looking for things to check as to why. What tells the injectors to open?

The ECU, if you did not get the exact one or the one you have is dead, this could be it. however I would think that if it is even close, there would be some fuel for it to fire from. Is this truck stock other then that which you replaced due to flooding?

is there a crank shaft position sensor? maybe a cam shaft sensor? there could be a few other items that may not be getting correct info to the ECU. Distributor comes to mind as well.

It is the exact match ecu and not a used one. I could check those sensors. Just an ohm test for resistance? Would that let the truck run fine while dumping fuel down the intake though?

Be careful with "Exact Match" and "Not Used" unless somebody had one sitting on a shelf somewhere, it's at the very least remand.

As for testing the sensors, you would have do to some research. I am just tossing out other options. The ECU is the final step in when/if they fire based on several other factors.

I also question if your injectors are firing. You should be able to check with a noid light, search YT if you're unsure of the process

I should have said this one is rebuilt not brand new. Does anyone know the order of operations to get injectors to fire? Ecu being the last step?

I honestly don't, but EEC-IV is pretty simple. I imagine it wants to see a tach signal (maybe I'm wrong) but yeah ECM tells injectors to fire. It's just batch fire so one side then the other.

Still confused. I thought maybe it was the pip in the distributor. I took the distributor out and connected a ground clamp to it. While I turned the distributor gear I could definitely hear the injectors opening and fuel pump sending more fuel. Still won’t run with out fueling manually though
