What are these for on a flatbed?

These little brackets, what are they for. They were on the timbers that sit on the frame. They were near the back end and flush with the top of the frame timbers.

Sitting in place

They mate to another pair of them, mounted on the frame.

Interesting, there were none like that on the frame of this truck.

Thanks, Chuck.

Mounting body’s to truck frames, where the fame flexes but the body does not.

Brackets like this allow the movement.

Thanks guys. These were not connected to anything. Just bolted onto the frame timbers as shown. I guess I'll put the back on. I'll sandblast them and paint them.

Abe,
I can put those to use on my 51 F-1 script flatbed build if you want to part with them. I am missing 1 set when I bought the bed.

Looks like nobody is going to use them if I can't find them! I took that picture 3 days ago and now I can't find them! Hopefully they will turn up.

💡 I had an attack of Old-timers Disease.

💡. I remembered I took them to where the truck and bed are with some other pieces to get sandblasted when I get the bed blasted . Whew!

Ford pickups are well known for cracked frames. Only in 2016 did Ford finally catch up to its competitors with a fully boxed frame. With your project truck there should have been sistered in plates on both sides of the crack using a heavy duty deep penetration arc welder.

Hey Bad Chad is just welding his flatbed crossmember right to his frame. No need to have any flex movement with a load on the back.
