Ordering a set of Front and Rear Posies SuperSlide Lowering Springs for my 55. Since I am replacing the springs thought I should also get some new shocks on to smooth out the ride. With a 3" drop, will I need to get special shorter shocks? Welcome any shock advice on anyone using the Posies SuperSlide Lowering Springs. Was looking at these Black Magic shocks that say they are for a 3-4" lowered ride on CJ Pony Parts:

I cant't help you on the front but I used the Super Slide on the rear of my 54 F100. I spoke to a tech. at Posies springs and informed me to use a original type shackle and not the adjustable type. He said the super slide is made with the intent of using original shackle to give you the 3" drop. The only place that had that shackle at the time was National Parts Depot. There is a math formula to use when figuring out what size shocks for the rear. Just Google and you will get the info. you need. I think Speedway has a good video. I used KYB shocks and I'm pleased with them and the springs. If you have a question about the springs call them directly they are very good. Hope this helps you

So you just used these stock length shocks? Didn't need to get a set of shorter stocks for the 3" drop?
I replaced the leaf springs on my stock 49 F1. (other than 302/AOD. Used Posies super slides. Was quite a job but was rewarding to get rid of several broken leaves. Probably alot of weight gone also, with overloads gone also. Ride height didn't really change as original ride was probably sagging. I wasn't after lowering, so was happy with ride height. I talked to Posies and they told me this also. Put Bilstein shocks on as they were spoken as very good. They were quite expensive. Truck rides a little better, but I expected more than what I got. Just my opinion. Good Luck
You will have to do some measuring once you get the springs on to get the correct length. If you get stock shocks they will probably not be compatible with the 3" drop that you are looking to get. Once I did the measuring I called KYB and spoke to aTech and gave him the figures and he suggested the different type shock to use. I happen to end up with Excel G # 344055 but yours could be very different. I got mine from Summit Racing last year $32.99 ea. You can use any shock Company but the important thing is the measurements so that the shock does not over travel or bottom out.
