New-to-me pickup. BW1356 t-case. Speedo doesn’t work only to find, previous owner swapped out the extension housing to one with no speedo hole. Has anyone else seen this before? The extension housing is leaking ATF pretty bad. Was going to get a gasket and seal it up, but after finding out there’s no speedo hole looks like I’m gonna check the internet for one that has it. Has anyone done a cable-to-gps conversion for their speedo or just swapped gears on the cable?
Heads-up the PO may have swapped the whole t-case, and not just the tail. Pop the tail you got now off and check if the shaft inside has the drive gear on it - if no gear and no provision for one (been a while but I seem to recall later models not being machined for it) you'll be swapping the whole t-case, or doing the GPS speedometer thing. Also, remember 92-up trucks use speedometer that are driven of the VSS in the rear axle, so retrofitting one of those might be an option as well - I briefly looked into it a few years back and it looked like it could work, but I just didn't feel like hassling with it tbh.
