Why not just use a regular speedo cable? Any 70's and 80's cable will fit your AOD. Since your EFI is speed density it doesn't require a VSS. If your still set on keeping the VSS for cruise as an example then you need a speedo cable from an 80's Ford vehicle with cruise. The speedo cable attached to the top of the VSS.
I was under the impression. that the AOD transmission has a Hall effect sensor that outputs a pulsed voltage to the speedo which converts that to register on the speedo ? On the mechanical systems , does the transmission not have a gear drive that went directly to the speedo ? If not ..I will try to use a 79 GM truck speedo that fits the original cluster; all I need is the speedo cable from the 79 ?
I found a speedo that fits my 50 cluster; 1978 Chev 1/2 ton; fits pretty good. I modified mounting to fit original mount. Trimmed gauge face. Got all mods to get it to fit, as I was installing it into cluster I broke the neddle off. Ouch, now I'll have to find another, I love this hobby. I'll post pic when I get final install.
There is a deal that screws to the back of a mech speedo that allows you to use the electric sender. Seems that I saw them on e-gauges.com or Isspro.com
