Yep; that happened. So this truck is a family owned F100 Ford Truck, now an antique. My dad Raymond Sanchez was first owner, then My uncle , and now me.
My brother is in possession of the truck, and found that the VIN plate is completely missing- taken off for some body work/ painting etc.
BIG Q: how do I obtain a replacement VIN plate? Through what source? I was thinking maybe Ford Motor Company? or is there another Company out there that performs this services???

Sorry to move this again, but the vehicle in question is a 1956. The Marti report in post 3 does not go back that far.
I'm not sure what to suggest for the OP, but others might have an idea in this forum.

If you need a data plate that is screwed on the driver's side door sill in 1956 trucks, there are places that make them. Try Mid Fifty or Google for others .
For many years A. G. Backeast (that’s his name) made exact stamped repops of factory tags. I just tried to link his web site but learn he has retired. Apparently somebody had bought the company but the web site isn’t working now. Do a Google search of the name and you’ll find an email address for the new guy, and lots of discussion on other forums. Someone really needs to let the folks at VINmagic know that the "R" in the VINs of 1953-55 vehicles is Richmond CALIFORNIA, not Virginia. The Richmond assembly plant moved across the bay and became San Jose in 56.
Don't freak out, that is just a Data plate, not a VIN plate. IT has the VIN on it but is not legal as a VIN tag. VIN tag wasn't required on the dash till 1968, then standardized location in 1969 (model year). Your original VIN will be stamped on the frame if this as listed above is a 1956.
