HOW TO GET LED HEADLIGHTS TO 1938 DUMP
I am redoing a restoration I did in 1986 of my 1938 81 "U" 1 1/2 ton dump. I had a complete engine rebuild done and just finished redoing all the wiring. First time in 25 years everything lights.
LET THERE BE LIGHT
Still 6 volt positive ground system which is where I would like to keep it but started using in a 9 volt battery for better starting years ago and it seems to work OK. I get about 8.3 volt reading at the front of the truck and about 7.4 at the rear lights.
I converted the headlights to halogen H4 base a long time ago because the 6 volt bulbs were about useless. Now that I have them going again, they seem to run hot. My thought is to convert to a LED bulbs in the H4 base but can't fine any in 6 volt positive ground. Anyone run into this before?
The rear bulbs are 1129.s and found LED but understand I need an LED flasher for turn signals flasher. If they look "too bright" I will go back to standard bulbs.
Thanks to all who have been helping me in the "re-restoration"

thanks for input. Above is the 38 I drove in high school in 1964. 388 Buick with 4 97 Rochester's, 3 speed LeSajle tranny, vertex mag, cut out pipes. compression 3 gallon MOON tank, tractor tires on the front and welded rear end. Would pick up front wheels in 2 gears
Silly boy.
In my 38 dump I put in halogens with H4 bases and work pretty good but , perhaps since I am running a 9 volt tractor battery, they run hot. LED might cool them down.

And if you have any house lights that use halogen bulbs they come with a warning they run vary hot and can start a fire if to close to anything.
If it is behind a glass leans I would not worry and plastic will just yellow faster like my Durango.

Thanks for the input. I found an LED positive ground for an H4 base like my halogens. About $18 a bulb so will give them a try when they come in.
Can run Halogens if need be because I live in the country and don't like to take my truck out at night
