1970 ford f100 headlight problem

Having a weird electrical issue with my 70 f100. The issue is when my headlights are turned on my left turm signal doesnt work. When the headlights are on the left turn signal indicator lamp is lit. My right turn works with the headlights on. Both signals work with the headlights off. My hazzards work no problem with the headlights off. But with the headlights on and the hazards on they don't blink just the indicator lamps stay lit. The socket has a good ground. When the headlights are on both the running light and the turn signal contact have power. It is not the bulb front or rear. Really stumped here. Any help or advice would be awesome.

Headlights? Or marker lights? If it's with the marker lights on then I'd start looking at the tail light situation.

If it's with the actual headlights, then you have some weird wiring going on somewhere. I don't know what to tell ya.

The turn signal is in the marker lights. But when I turn on the headlights. My left turn doesn't work and has constant power. I did not test the rear. I know that with headlights off everything works as it should so I know all the bulbs are good. Think it's more taillights? I had all the bulbs out , headlight, tailight, marker light. And the indicator still stayed lit. So it seems to be wiring more than anything or possibly a switch?

It's with both marker and headlight.

Well the markers are on when the headlights are on. So I'm willing to bet you have a bad socket or some shorted wiring. Check it out...

Ford did not have the park lights on when the headlamps were on. Sounds to me like somebody tried to change that and messed with the wiring, Is the wiring under the dash messed with and look like a bowl of spaghetti?

I think they were in 1970. The parking lights are on on my 70 F350 when my headlights are on....

They're on with the headlights on my 71. I thought only the 60s bumps turned them off?

Yep. Sorry. You and Abe are correct. Starting in 70 since the park lamp was also a side marker lamp they were on with the headlamps. OP, do you have this same issue if you just turn on the "park" lamps and not all the way to the headlamps? If so I think the turn signal switch is the culprit. And the power to the tail lamps is tripping it. Garrett was prolly on to it. You see the turn signals front and rear, brake lights, and running lights all go through the turn signal switch. That's why at night when one has the lights on with the brakes applied if one turns on the right (lets say) turn signal the right side tail lamp cuts off those two circuits and flashes.
OP, has someone messed with the turn signal switch, one of those junk switch rebuild kits, or the under dash wiring recently?

I wired in a 1979 steering column with tilt. Drove the truck had no issue truck sat for a week then had the issue. I found the issue out when I was fixing the bad ground issue for one of the headlights. I have the issue with the marker lights on and with the headlights on. I disconnected the steering column and turn the headlights on and still the left indicator lamp and front left turn signal and rear turn signal have power. So I have ruled out the turn signal switch. Some how the left turn is getting a constant hot with the headlights and marker lights on.

Looking at my 1971 aftermarket wiring schematic card. Is there anything else not working right? Dome light both from doors or headlamp switch, dash lights or gauges, etc. You do have #1157 bulbs in the front and rear correct?

I removed all the bulbs turned the headlights on still getting pover to driveread turn signal. Everything works pretty much works correctly.
Dome lights work, turn signals work when headlights are off. Brake lights work. Hazzards work as long as the headlights are off. Dash lights work but are touchy with the dimmer. When the head Lights are onthe dash lights come on like normal, but the left turn indicator lamp is on . Now if I dim the dash lights the left turn indicator lamp dims too.

Looks like the only thing in common with all those problems is the dash cluster's printed circuit board. According to my aftermarket 1971 wiring schematic. Have you had the cluster out recently or messed with the wiring going to it? Here is one for a 1970.
