Our front brakes started "scraping" on our way home on the last camping trip.
The inner pads were half gone on both sides - oops, I know, waited too long.
I'm installing Stop Tech cryo slotted rotors and Hawk pads.
Do these look like OEM brake pads that I took off?
Also, the left front outer bearing race would rotate in the rotor - never seen that before.
look on the top edge, a code was printed on them if still visible, highly unikely they are the originals at 145, 70k is not unheard of but 145 is doubtful
Excursion in California with that traffic system and heavy vehicle I bet that is the second set.
We bought our Excur with 103k and it looked like the original owner did minimal maintenance - oil, air filter, tires, battery, driver's seat upholstery, probably brakes, too, it seems.
Just finished taking apart the right side and only the left pads/rotor were grinding/wore out.
Another instance where the left front brake wore out first, I think all the times I've changed front brakes the left front wears out first.
My theory has been that when exiting freeways the off ramps are mostly right turns and the left wheel rotates more than the right during the high speed braking.
Interesting that both outer bearing races would spin in the rotors.
I was cleaning out all the grease inspecting things and pushing on the bearing race in the old rotors with my finger would spin it.
That doesn't seem right, shouldn't the races be pressed in and tight, like the new rotors?
