2016 f350 dually DEF malfunction!?

Hey guys, this morning my check engine popped up, I ran to oriellys and checked it out. As I was reading the code P207F, an exhaust fluid system fault popped up and said 50 miles till the truck limps down to 50mph??? I just bought this truck last week and know very little about the 6.7. Any help would be so Appreciated. The truck has 106k miles and runs awesome and is in beautiful shape...

Yes. It said the def is below 1/2...I added 2.5 gals, checked again and it said it was "ok". It took the entire 2.5 gals.

P207F is not good. Who ever sold it to you should be on the hook for this repair. It's possible with the miles on the truck it could be the DPF going out.

It could be reductant quality issues, Bad SCR system, or bad NOx sensors. P207F will require an SCR drive cycle to clear the derate after the repair is complete.

I would get in touch with the seller or get it to a dealer before that 50 miles expires.

yeah, this is going to need intervention. As suggested, they sold it too you with this issue.

Another tip, imho, is once this is corrected and you have a known complete full def tank, is to let it run down to <200 to empty. Then do a complete fill using the ford def fill spout.

Running it down and complete refills has worked without flaw for me since 2013.

Was your last drive before the DTC your longest since purchasing? I think a drive cycle is 24 minutes.

A little OBDII diag detail so they don't clear it and send you on your way.

I was too scared to drive it....I was putting around town and took my wife to a few stores and the check engine popped up, drove it home, called oriellys, drove her down there, took their reader outside to plug into my idling truck, as I was reading the P207F code, the dash lit up saying this below, I didn't really know how to use their reader, but I cleared the check engine but the def warning stayed lit up. Drove her home and shut her down.

I bought the truck last Saturday in NJ, drove her 4 hrs home with ZERO issues. I have been on a tiling job thats only 2 miles from my house all week, so I start her up and drive her 2 seconds down the road and shut her down...then come home at the end of the day. That's it basically it...unless I go to the gym thats 4 miles down the road. I really haven't driven her too far since the drive home from NJ.

Does the truck tell you when my DEF fluid is getting low? I have played with the dash buttons and gotten into def fluid level and it had said "below half"...that was before the start of the week last week, I didn't say I was empty or anything till I put 2.5 gals in this morning

yes, it will warn you when less than half and then again at <200 miles.

At <less than 200 miles at each start up it will prompt until you fill it.

Typically for your truck and tank of def (5 gallons) should last 4500-5K miles.

Here is the thing. Since you are at the 50 MPH till limp mode you need to take the truck to the dealer. If you hit the 50 MPH limit you will still be able to drive the truck like normal for a while. If you shut off the truck and start it again it will limit you. Ford did this so it wouldn't do it while on the highway. If you keep driving it will go into idle mode and you will be stuck.
There is a process to get the warning to go away and you cant do that yourself. There are a plethora of things to check. could be the fluid, sensor, injector like my truck. My recommendation is see the dealer.

Deleting is an option but you have to have a friend of a friend that has access to the tuner and a tune.

A custom tune is required to remove the emission components even with stock power.

Watch this video. It talks about the dreaded P207F code and towards the end on how to perform the drive cycle to clear it.
