Bought a deleted 2011 f350 CCSB without a tuner included, I am sure its on the hot tune because it has crazy amounts of power and blows a lot of smoke if I floor it. Because in recent years of the EPA cracking down, where does one buy a tuner for a deleted truck. I want to get control so I can keep an eye on my egts etc and be able to tow heavy without too much timing. Best tuning and where can I find it? Do I absolutely have to have the truck flashed to stock first? Or can I just plug in and go. Love this truck but I am keeping my 7.3 forever.
If I can't find a tuner, is my best bet to just buy a edge monitor for my egts just live with the tune that is on it forever?
I don't know the specifics on what is needed to monitor EGTs but my understanding the only useful factory EGT sensors are from the downstream exhaust system that is now removed on your truck but only some tuner options are programed to read a relocated factory EGT sensor. You'll likely need to have a compatible after market one installed I believe to the EGR port off the exhaust manifold, to the right of the capped off EGR cooler block connection and run to a gauge. I think Edge makes (made?) an EGT sensor for their CTS2. Without knowing the calibration you have, it's difficult to know if a factory EGT sensor off the DPF will be useful by something such as TorquePro mobile app. I think this will be difficult to figure out at this point.
If you cannot obtain a replacement no emissions calibration, you are stuck. Or will have to return everything to stock and have the OEM calibrations installed from IDS so you can safely pull weight up grades if this is a 100+ HP calibration. Purchasing a replacement used 2012+ non-deleted truck would likely be more affordable.
any chance you could contact the seller or where you purchased it. Get all the hardware back and the tuner too.
banks idash should work too for monitoring, but as said what is there for those items.
Likely this is not going to be a good truck for towing until you can get towards stock power and be able to ensure the safe operating parameters in place.
