TCM gone bad.. is it obsolete?

I hope someone can help me clarify a few things. I have a 2011 F350 cab and chassis with the 6.7. The ford dealership diagnosed that my TCM has gone bad. They've called everywhere trying to find a new one (part # BC3Z7Z369S) with no luck. Ford is telling them the part is now obsolete and cannot be purchased. There's no aftermarket or refurbished ones available either. Has anyone had similar issues or know where I may be able to find the part listed above? Thanks for any input.

That part is for the very early job 1 trucks. It is in fact obsolete, you can make another one work but there is a distinct programming difference between the SRW and DRW modules and the Ford IDS won't allow the change so it would have to be done using forscan. However the most common issue is the board burns out at the pins. This can be fixed, you can have your TCM repaired by G7computers.com.

Thanks ford390, I looked them up and I'm going to give them a try. Appear to have really good reviews and quick turnaround. Have you used them before?

I have a account with them. We send them lots of modules, sometimes in rare cases they can't be fixed. But that normally applies to water damage or because someone tried a botched repair.

Huh... that's interesting. thanks for posting.

They're not too far from me in the highly taxed state of NY.

My module is too corroded to be repaired - I guess the module is bolted to the frame behind the tire and the road salt from the winters up here in NW Pa have ruined it. I'm almost at a dead end now looking for this part. From what I can gather, the 2011 cab and chassis only used this module for a very short time and cannot be crossed with a normal f350 pickup of the same year. It MUST have this engineering number - BC3A12B565-SA to work with my truck. There are a lot of other modules out there with the same part number, but different letters after the dash (ie. BC3A12B565-FA, BC3A12B565-SB, etc.) Any other ideas?

The module is obsolete, so they don't have any new ones at any dealership in the US that I've found.

Your problem makes a good argument for getting the truck oiled every year before winter time. Esp. here in the rust belt of the North east.

I wish you luck bro.

Might give these guys a try.
Main (greensalescompany.com)
Edit-- Just typed in the number you listed and it says out of stock. You might give them a call and visit with them, they might have an idea where to look.

You may have to go to a junk yard. Then as soon as you get it running get another truck.

Did Ford tell you how much different the programming would be in regular F350 and cab and chassis? Is it so much the truck can't be drivable? Is it the 6 speed transmission? If so and it were mine I would try a '11 or 12 F350 TCM and see what might be different. If it is something different in valve bodies then I would upgrade the valve body to a '12 or later and use the TCM then.

You would think Ford would have a work around on this. Maybe your service/parts manager didn't want to take the time to research it and help you.

I'm having a hard time finding out what the difference between the TCM's. Most of the ones I've found have the exact same engineering number with different letters after the dash. From my research this indicates a slightly different "version" of the computer, not have no idea what may or may not be interchangeable.

Is it so much the truck can't be drivable?
Currently with my bad TCM, I only have 5th gear.

Is it the 6 speed Transmission?
Yes, its the 6R140
