I started the truck yesterday morning, it lit right up, idled for a minuted, then the tach jumped and it died like someone turned off the key.
I put a new ignition coil in it after testing the old one and finding no resistance between the tach lead and the bat lead. Brand new set of plug wires, probably only 7 months old.
Still no start, cranks fine but wont catch, i didn't have much time to look into much else the past two days, going to look some more tomorrow.
Any pointers on trouble spots would be appreciated.
A very good chance that the ignition module on the side of the distributor went dead. You need a special tool to remove and reinstall the ignition module, a skinny nose socket of sorts.
Make sure to apply the heat sink grease to the back side of the ignition module when installing.

Is there a easy way to test the ICM before removing it?

There is a procedure explained in the Haynes repair manual but I have never used it. I have a fair amount of personal experience with Fords of this vintage with the ICM on the side of the distributor, mostly Taurus cars. From what you explain I am fairly confident you will have a failed ICM.
If I have power up to the coil through one of the small wires that hook onto the coil, and no spark while cranking the engine: either the coil, the ICM or the PIP in the distributor. Usually when the PIP goes bad it will revive after sitting for a while. When the ICM goes dead it is dead for good in my experience.
The bottom line, if I was in your shoes I would just remove the ICM and replace it or try to get it tested at the auto parts store.
I have tested the ICM and PIP and both are good, coil is getting signal and 12v, still no spark ie. no start. Could it be a broken ground somewhere on the engine?
-Already disconnected the condenser on the coil to see if it was shorting the system, no change.
-Already tried for spark without computer connected, computer is good. -Tested Coil to Dizzy Wire, has continuity, and is within spec.
I'm really stumped at this point, this is my main rig, its really getting under my skin that i cant find the issue.
