ok first real problem ever with my truck. went to go to the store yesterday jumped in waited for the wait to start light to go out, turned the key and all i got was the motor turning over but no start up, tach was bouncing a little bit. turned the key off and tried again and this time it started after about 5 seconds. let it run for a little bit and turned it off to see if it would start again, nothing, wouldnt start, would just turn over and the tach would bounce a little bit. not sure what it is. it is almost out of gas and my driveway is on an incline but this has never happened before, not sure if that would cause it. any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you. right now i just have an 8000 lb paperweight.
sounds like your batteries... because your tach is moving, your cps is good... these engines have to crank over fast enough to "light" off. I had the same problem last fall. used my wifes gasser to jump start, drove to autozone, and bought the meanest batteries they stocked. no problems since
I'll second the batteries. If they're not cranking fully it will turn but won't fire off. If it starts when jumped then they're likely the problem. Good luck!
One other thing to think about it erratic fuel delivery, low tank = possible sludge/foriegn matter and or bio-matter pulled into lines. Check the status of fuel filter along with the output of the batts.
Had it happen to me last week. Both were bad. set me back about $170 for both but I got some bad boy batteries that should last a good 3-5 years. the Zone should check them and your alternator for free. They also installed mine for free.
