Hi guys. These are the factory running board bolts from my 47 1/2 ton MH. Does anyone know a source for these? Does anyone know a shop who can make some?
Thank You
Bob B.
The best suggestion I have is Third Gen Automotive. The owner is a real restoration Ford guy who recently took over reproducing old Ford fasteners after the long time supplier to the hobby passed away.
A quick look at the online store shows Model A running board kit with bolts that look similar to yours. Give him a call. Link to the Model A bolt kit for demonstration of type of fasteners he supplies: https://thirdgenauto.com/product/193...ards-hardware/
I bought some and they wouldn't work. The way the originals were intended to work, is for the stepped shank under the head to clamp down on the inside bottom of the channel attached to the running board. I used a nylon filler piece inside the channels, drilled them, then used a button head bolts to attach the boards. Worked very well. You could also drill through the filler pieces, then file the holes square and use normal carriage bolts. The filler pieces allow the boards to be clamped down using the bolt head (without crushing the top of the board) instead of the stepped shank.
Good luck!
