I'll try to explain the condition with the brake pedal. I finished rebuilding the entire original brake system and am reinstalling the original pedal. The rubber brake pedal bumper that snaps into the hole in the cab floor was missing so I purchased a new repro bumper for it. It is roughly 11/16" thick and 1" diameter. When the pedal is fully up, the pedal arm hits a pinch weld in the floor and there is still about 1/8" gap between the pedal and rubber bumper. The cab floor is original and in good condition. The pinch weld is straight and only dinged a little where the pedal has been hitting it. All cab mounts are new and cab is aligned.
I guess my questions are: Is it possible the original brake pedal is bent a little? I can heat the pedal with torches and bend it, but I don't want to unless that is a last resort. Maybe this is normal for being manufactured in 1956? Is it better to bend the pinch weld to clear the pedal arm so that the pedal arm will contact the rubber bumper when up?
