I can’t open the driver door from the inside. Is there a way to test if the whole door regulator needs to be replaced? Is there anything I should look out for? The inner door handle just spins.
thanks
jerry
Year of truck ? If it spins all the way around it's most likely the splines are stripped on the handle or possibly the linkage is broken but unlikely it is the door lock mechanism .
As EBEAR said, sounds like a stripped spline. I would remove the handle and inspect the splines on the shaft and inside the handle. I have seen many a truck on the road with a pair of vice grips as a handle.
Sorry my truck is a 1955 ford f100. The inner door mechanism to open the door just spins. So if I take out the mechanism I should see if it’s stripped. I saw on mid fifty they sell the spline stud. I guess I won’t know until I take it apart.
thanks

Ok I took out the inner lock regulator. I tried to see if I could see why it keeps spinning. It seems like there is a spring clip that keeps it from spinning. But mine is not the case. The post keeps spinning. Is there a way to test and or take out the post? Or do I just need a door lock regulator?
thanks
