Introduction - Hello from NJ
Using this as an informal introduction. I have already been in brief contact with a few of you. Big thank you to John aka @52Flthed for guiding me this far.
Back in September my wife and I were out in New Hope PA for our anniversary. I had been searching FB marketplace, Hemmings, ebay for most of this year for a truck and came across this one. My wife gave it the nod, as it had to be a patina stepside that had the "Mater" vibe everyone is getting into lately. A few weeks later a buddy and I towed it home.

Its a bit of a mix-n-match and very little info from the PO was known before his ownership. The highlights are:
Titled as a 50 cab (see vin photo) 97HC334249 model 9HC on what I originally thought was a 51 chassis/bed/front, After several texts with 52Flthed we agreed it is most likely a 52.
Came with a 1965 289-2v & 3 speed top loader from a mustang/falcon in place of the flathead 6 and a 2 barrel carb (No hi-po 4v here)
12V conversion done
Has flat bedsides
Has a Dana 44 rear
I have read through the 49/50 Vin split posts and wanted to add that the cowl stampings show this as a PA native truck from Chester PA.
I am having a hard time finding information about the original paint color. I want it to stay patina but I would like to add a little here and there when it looks like someone probably bondo/primered some sections
The stepside running boards are rusted through as are all 4 fenders at their attachment points.
Bedwood is long gone as are the supports and in its place the PO (who was a decent carpenter) put some laminate flooring and some MDF/malamine to make a usable bed.
I'll post more photos of the journey and maybe start a thread as I dig into this. Thanks all for reading!!

Yes I have been lurking for the last month gathering info, intel and my thoughts.
If anyone might know of this truck please let me know! All I was able to get about the PO was it was a fellow Model-A club owner from PA. Outside of that, I know nothing about what happened his this trucks life to get it to where it is now. Why it has a different cab or powertrain is a mystery so far.
Also if anyone can help with the cowl tag I would greatly appreciate it. When I look inside the doors the cab was a dark green, but not quite the cherished Spruce Green I was hoping for.
The hood, fenders and front grille have some yellow poking through the rough rolled on green. Thinking of doing a CLR scrub to see where it gets me.
Where in NJ are you? Perhaps when this virus thing dies down we can get together and talk trucks.
I have enjoyed your videos so that you for posting them. I am in the process of replacing my glass, felts and anti rattle parts so your posts are a HUGE help. I also noticed your post yesterday about the door bending. I need to do that myself since my corner hangs about 0.250" from the cab.
I am located down in Ocean county - Brick to be precise. Looking forward to getting this thing out in the spring once things starting to allow us to.
Your paint posts has inspired me. If I weren't keeping the patina I would have to consider enlisting your services, since you did such an great job.
Already loving the content and comradery here on the "thing" haha!

I’m so worn out from sanding and no where near done. Brick? I think that makes John about halfway between us. Between the 3 of us we have 3 very different strategies on our trucks. John is going for perfection, I’m going for nice looking and drivable, you’re going for patina.
Glad my amateur work and vids help out.

I can see why you picked up that PA truck, it is really cool. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it!
