SRW to DRW rear end swap.... 99 f250
Sourced a D80 from.a pick-up frame f350 and a pair of 11 leaf f350 springs...
The f350 springs diff locator is 1 inch back from where the f250 srw locator is.. my questions are as follows..
Will my tailshaft from the srw differential bolt up to the d80 or is it a different size?
Will my brakelines and handbrake cables from the srw go onto the brake setup on the d80?
Thanks in advance :-)
Any 99+ F350 DRW should be a D80 and the axle will physically bolt in. What year truck is the D80 out of? 2008+ has longer rear spring packs and they won't bolt in. You'd need to move the spring hanger on the frame.
Assuming the axle and springs bolt in, you'll need to figure out the parking brake cables, which should be as simple as buying them for a 99 f350 dually if the originals don't work. Shocks should bolt up, hydraulic flexible brake line should still work. The only big thing might be the driveshaft, you might need to have yours modified or find a used one if the pinion snout on the D80 is much longer than the Sterling.
Your best bet is to get as many parts from the same truck, ideally one with the same wheelbase and engine /tranny /tcase as yours.
Edit: After doing a little reading, apparently there was a DRW 10.5 in the earlier Super Duty, but it sounds kinda rare. I've always read and heard they're always D80s. Better run a BOM number just to make sure.
