Cab Interior

I am going to be starting on the cab restoration soon, so I would like to start ordering parts now. Who sells the most accurate stock/factory correct interior furnishings? Seat cover/carpet/headliner/firewall insulator/etc. The headliner and and seat cover are brown in my truck, there was no remaining carpet, and the firewall insulator is black cardboard.

Thanks!

There was no carpet. Rubber mats are reproduced. If your cardboard firewall insulator is in good usable shape it can be painted with black fabric paint. If it is shot, you're out of luck. I repainted the pad in my 55 but bought ABS Insulated pad for my 54.

Several companies sell the seat material for your year.

Pic of ABS Insulated firewall pad on my 54.

It's very shiny, not like the original.

Pics before and after of 55 firewall pad.

Ah, I've seen photos in the catalogs of the mats, I thought they were carpet but I guess I assumed incorrectly.

As far as the seat covers go, is Mac's Cartouche line the best one? I was reading old threads and I saw that Hampton Coach was highly recommended, but it looks like they went out of business.

I'm guessing the headliner kits are probably all made by the same manufacturer regardless of vendor?

Good to know on the firewall pad. All I had been able to find was the ABS, so it looks like I will try to reuse the original cardboard.

Here's what I used to paint my firewall pad.

Unfortunately LeBaron Bonney/Hampton Coach were taken into bankrupcy. Lee Atherton (he started LeBaron Bonney) must be rolling over in his grave. They had been a great resource for many years.

I decided to order the seat cover from Macs Cartouche series. It seems like a lot of people were happy with theirs.

What are you guys using for padding over the springs? Im guessing that the seat cover doesn’t include any padding.

Actually, the kit should include the cotton batting. A couple of points :
Be mindful of the finish height of the seating surface. Resist the urge to overstuff.
The kit likely will not include burlap for the spring cover layer. If you want to retain this feature (even with the potential downside issues) get thee to a fabric store.

Take your time with the upholstery work. It can be done by amateurs.

I order almost everything from Chuck. I looked through his catalog and didn't see the upholstery kit listed.

Is it recommended to leave the burlap out? If so, do you replace it with anything else?

No printed catalogue, but the 48-56 version is worth printing out yourself if you’re into stock looking or factory correct trucks. It’s nearly a restoration manual. Exaggerating but it’s pretty cool.
