So the build of my '54 F100 is moving along, slowly, but getting there. I've used probably 90% aftermarket parts - fenders included. I bought most of these parts from mid-fifties. The hood fit perfectly as did most of the other parts, but the fenders just didn't line up and wouldn't fit without a lot of work. So I tried a new company - Correct As Original Restoration Parts for your car or truck project. and their fenders fit right out of the box with no additional work or issues. Has anyone else run in to this issue or am I Just overthinking things?
It is a new hood (still from mid-fifties), but I had accidentally squashed my original hood (strapped it down too tight) and it would have taken the shop (I've stopped working on it as I took it as far I as could) more time to fix and reshape than to just repaint a new one.
Here's the truck as it sits today auto metal direct fenders with hood from mid-fifties
That's interesting - I thought most of the aftermarket parts manufacturers were using the original dies from the F100 assembly line. But yeah, there was a huge difference in how these lined up versus the other ones I had originally purchased.
I had purchased some aftermarket front fenders many years ago(I think from Dennis Carpenter) and they were the worst fit. I had to modify the hood to fender gap on both, The slots where the rubber bushings go in weren't the right height, and a a lot of the fastening holes didn't line up with the inner fenders and had to be re drilled.
I bought a set for my 56 about 10 yrs ago. The fit was so-so. The lower inside panel around the grille was not even finished correctly. I had to put in little patches to close the gaps up. The fit on the truck is slightly off and I had to really bull it around to line up the hood. Its still a little of but then these trucks weren't show quality new.

That's the kicker. I don't need it perfect, though that would be awesome, but the fenders I originally bought versus what I have now are a world apart
