I thought i would share my headliner project on my 56. I am not the first person to do it this way , I learned from this forum and over on the HAMB. My 56 has a steel sunroof (thats for another story) so i wasn't able to use one of the aftermarket headliners that are available. I bought a 4' x 8' sheet of Sintra closed cell PVC foam from a local sign manufacturer. I used 2mm thick which is pretty flimsy. 3mm which is more common is used for outdoor signs and that type of stuff. I made thin cardboard templates , the compound curves of the roof made it so i had to make it in sections. The sintra plastic can be heated with a heat gun. / hair dryer and formed into shape. (not too much heat !!) Once it was formed, it became more rigid. I bought a couple yards of fabric from the local fabric / craft store. I used 3M super apray adhesive (black can, purple cap) . Overall , there was lots of trial and error, a good learning experience, and i am relatively
happy with it.
Turned out pretty nice especially considering the complexity of it , bravo . Not that it's for me but someone put some serious work into that sunroof . I would love to see some pics of the outside .

Me too, that is quite the sunroof.. Good job on the headliner that looks nice!
Couple people asking about the sunroof. The truck was originally a farm truck from Nebraska , the roof was very caved in and dented. Rather than trying to straighten out the mess, My father saw a Mazda RX7 car in junkyard with a sunroof and a simliar shape. So they cut him off the roof and he grafted the sunroof portion into the truck. i tried to dig out a couple more pics
As I mentioned not really my style but it looks to be very well thought out and nicely done . Definitely an option if you have a bad roof or were doing a chop .
I love it, It looks very professional. A sunroof is nice on a sunny day but it seems all the aftermarket ones were so cheap and cheezy looking, not to mention leaky... That looks great- Nice Job. Your truck looks great!!
What a great idea, Your father was able to overcome and adapt, very creative and looks much nicer than the sunroofs that were being installed in the 70's and 80's .
