This truck is driving me nuts. My fuel mileage is way down used to get 15mpg towing 8k and 18 unloaded on the highway with stock injectors. I install 180/30’s now I get 10 towing 14 unloaded. No boost leaks checked that with diesel site leak detector, no fuel or oil leaks no brakes hanging up or bad hub bearings I checked those. Could my my 38r not providing enough air to feed these injectors? I’m about ready to sell this fuel pig and buy a gasser. Two different tuners with same results. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Well if you are solely chasing MPG and think a gasser will solve it, be prepared to make a very expensive mistake. Hop over to the towing forum and read the threads there. Gassers never report more than 10mpg towing, mostly 6-8. And empty they get less mileage than us too. But, they are cheaper to work on and oil changes don't require multi gallons or huge filters.
Are all other parameters the same? Load/trailer/speed?
I don't know where you are but I have lots of people complain about poor winter mileage then find out that they let their vehicle warm up 20 minutes each day and drive in 4x4.

Customer was in yesterday super happy about the new to him Dodge 2500 w/5.7 gas.... except mileage. 10-14 empty and he says he drives very easy.
I like to check different trucks MPG average on the Lie-o-meter if equipped. I rarely see 14+. Most of these include warmup and city driving, not just driving from one fillup to the next and calculating actual mileage.
The trip up with trailer, filled up just before entering highway. and filled upon arrival to get actual mpg hand calculated. Same coming back unloaded. It’s not the winter fuel I’m taking that into consideration I would loose about 2 mpg between summer and winter blends. Can it be the turbo just not feeding enough air? I just can’t figure this out. All parameters the same but these remain injectors 70 mph on cruise the whole way.
Check the thermostat too. Mine was broke and wasn't getting the engine warmed up, found the issue because the pump seal started leaking. Now
heater works better (wasn't bad before) and gained 2.5-mpg, and I live in Tx where it doesnt get real cold.
