Transmission Cooler Upgrade

Hi Guys:
This is my first post here and I am excited to be here. I have a2016 Ford E450 chassis on my motorhome with a V10. the drive train combinations great but we travel a lot down to CA and AZ and it is not uncommon with we are towing and going up and down through the mountains, the tranny temp (I installed a gauge) goes over 200-210 and then tranny shifts down, I guess trying to increase the fluid flow. Anyways, the tranny cooler that I see in front of this t ruck looks so small. I was thinking if any other Ford truck have bigger cooler (I prefer OEM rather than aftermarket) to swap this one out or I just should go and put a second aftermarket cooler somewhere.
Thanks for the help

Normal temps for this transmission are over 200.

So, I don't understand why every time the temp goes over 200, it down shift with this very loud noise which could be the fan is kicking in, it is very loud. Could it be my gauge is reading low and the temp could actually be higher because there is no reason for fan to kick in and tranny down shift unless it is getting too hot?! And is always when the gauge goes over 200.
This is my first Ford. I understand that every manufacturer has their own spec but I though the happy temp for tranny is 180-190.

You should also have a trans fluid cooler in the lower radiator tank.
The cooler you see in front is an aux cooler which comes with tow packages.
You probably have the 5R110 trans with 1/2" cooler lines.
Any larger cooler you add should have 1/2" lines, too.
Checkout the B&M Supercooler 70274, it has 1/2" NPT ports which can be fitted with 1/2" NPT x 1/2" hose barb fittings.
It comes with mounting straps.
Be sure to use trans fluid rated hose such as Derale 15701 Transmission/Engine Oil Hose.

When you're getting higher transmission temps, you're also getting higher engine temps; so the cooling system is getting worked pretty hard. The computer(s) decide that more cooling is needed, so the transmission downshifts to increase engine speed and the fan clutch locks to fully increase fan speed. This dramatically increases airflow (and noise) through the radiator which helps to rid all the extra heat being generated by the load. Every gas engine RV I've driven does this. Since the E series has you sitting closer to the front end than say a car or an F series, you're going to hear that noise. Watch your gauges and enjoy the ride. The only way to get it to stop is to slow down. Less speed will equal less heat being generated. It takes a while to realize that most RV's are really meant to be driven 55-60 mph, not the 70 mph we all tend to drive them at.

That all being said, it would not hurt to add some extra cooling, but you shouldn't need much. Getting too low a temp can be as harmful as too high.

Jut food for thought...Try installing a Scangauge II or using a Bluetooth dongle to communicate with the Torque app on your phone. You can monitor many sensors on the vehicle. I installed a Scangauge II on my '04 F250 and noticed high trans and coolant temps towing my camper. I upgraded my trans cooler to the 31 row 6.0l cooler and both temps have dropped dramatically. I would have not known had I not had the monitoring tool. I use the Torque app on my phone for my other vehicles as it does monitor more than the Scangauge II. I keep the SG II on the truck because the OBD port does do allow many sensors to be monitored. I have put the BT dongle and Torque app in the truck and the senors to monitor are just not available.

What is a good running temp?
What exactly is going to be harmed if the trans fluid runs at 120 or 140 deg?
Ideally, there would be a massive trans fluid cooler to handle any situation and a thermostat to regulate the temps, just like the engine cooling system has evolved to.
