If you are worried, take the truck to a Truck Frame and Alignment shop and have them inspect the rear frame and hitch for damage. I highly doubt you have any issues.

Personally I would put a new stinger and pin in it and call it good if I couldn't see any damage to the frame or hitch area.

I would replace the hitch in this instance. May not be needed but I would.

I got rear ended in my F250, twice. Both were low speed and ther other vehicles, a Toyota and a Chevy P/U truck,,, didn’t get past the trailer hitch and did no damage to the truck bumper. Point is the hitch took the full impact, such as it was. I looked at the hitch assembly my self and saw no damage. Also had it inspected by a trailer shop because I was towing a TT at the time and just wanted to be sure. The shop found no damage.
You didn’t say what other, if any, damage to your truck there was. If your hitch didn’t get any frame to hitch contact you should be ok but get it inspected if your concerned. Just for peace of mind.

At the speed of impact do you think my Firestone air bags might have shifted?

How many times have stumps been jerked out of the ground or another person in deep snow/mud? I am thinking stress from these events is substantially higher than 8 mph bump. I wouldn’t worry about it...

Your hitch is perfectly fine I'd say.

I don't understand why people always block out their license plates for pictures? We all drive around everyday, and plates are perfectly visible on roads, and in parking lots for everyone to see

For a hitch? No. For everything else? No. Unless you want warranty work......

Because there are weirdos on the internet who build up weird attractions and/or grudges with other people on the internet. Normal everyday traffic is not a cause for concern but internet yahoos certainly are.

I was near the top of the hill in winter time I take down to go home to pull out a girl that slid off the road into a ditch. I was facing down the hill and the town supervisor rolled up in his Ford F350 dump with plow and was in his lane facing up the hill. There were a few vehicles facing down the hill that stopped with hazards on. This is on a curve.

I had the truck only shy of a year at that point. Then this fool in a Chevy half ton decided to go around the stopped cars only to see the road totally blocked. He went into my truck sideways at at least 25 mph. The extended hitch I had on saved my truck from more extensive damage. The ball went into the fender behind the front drivers side wheel wheel into the rocker panel. His drivers door was right up against my truck. He broke the driver side taillight housing and dented the body around the taillight. I was pissed to say the least.

Our factory bumpers are junk. That's why I want that Hammerhead bumper that are solid and stick out more than the OEM one does. I'm thinking if that bumper was on my truck, it would have kept his off of mine.

The point to my rambling here is that IMHO is that your receiver and truck are fine. Because I've towed my buddy's food trailer down a crazy hill by my house and up hills with no problems. I guess I never thought about my truck and receiver after that Chevy hit. But I drive a Ford. No worries...

But YMMV. I'm no expert but I wouldn't worry about it.

I agree about the internet weirdos but normal every day traffic not a cause for concern.
I’m more worried about rush hour road ragers that accompany me twice a day than a geek that has to hack into the DMV to find out they don’t live near me.
