I'm wanting to add a resonator to my exhaust system since I had my emissions crap deleted a few months ago. I can't tell if I have Aluminum or SS exhaust and am wondering which way I should "guess"; buy SS resonator or AL resonator?
I tried the scratch test with a nail and I think it's SS.
Well....if a magnet won't stick to it, then it could be either, stainless or aluminum....if a magnet will stick to it...it could be aluminized coated steel or stainless steel (some SS will attract a magnet).
I took my truck into a highly rated muffler shop yesterday and the guy installed a muffler/resonator in front of the existing Flo/Pro muffler that was installed during the emissions delete a few months ago.
Now my truck is quiet at all speeds. The problem, as the muffler shop owner stated, was that the Flo/Pro was very short and just couldn't muffle enough of the exhaust. I should have gone with the Donaldson muffler that was longer but was talked into the Flo/Pro by the diesel performance shop last year.
For anyone removing their DPF I would suggest the longest muffler possible if you want it quiet.
