Hi Guys I measured my truck's ride heights last night per resident suspension expert pirate4x4's often-writ suggestion and found my springs have sagged significantly (front 19.25" rear 21") after 248k miles and is the likely cause of my damaged rear bump stops and my very floaty bouncy ride (figuring my bilstien 4600s are dead, especially considering the rubber mounting bushings in the eyelets are very cracked and deformed). So yesterday I ordered some KYB Monomax front shocks and KYB Gas-a-just for the rear but now that I realize my springs are toast, I'm not going to throw them on to get their butt's kicked.
I don't see springs at all on Rock Auto but I did find the part numbers on Tasca. They're shockingly costly! And it appears the rear springs for 2WD are not available. Is there another source I can get all the parts? Preferably for under 4 digits price! I am trying to get this rig back to showroom new condition in time. Wonder if I would've been better off doing these things before my ZF6 conversion...
FWIW… the 4x4 and RWD uses the same rear spring. they just seem diffrent because the 4x4 has the traction bar lear and sits on a lift block, but the spring back itself is the same.
See I was thinking they were the same based on some of your posts I had seen around but I managed to convince myself they were different enough. Should I just get those then?
Semi related, with my ZF6 conversion, I'm pretty sure I get some serious axle wrap so maybe I would do well to have the traction bar leaf? When I get a little heavy footed from a light, and press the clutch a little too fast, there's a loud *boom* from the back and I feel a shake through the whole rig.
Another question...is there anything else I should go ahead and replace while I'm doing springs? The front bump stops are fine but the rears need replacing so I'll do those. Anything else??
And shipping from Tasca is over 300 bucks. If I order from my local Ford dealer am I likely to save any money? Looking at $1330 shipped for 4 parts, not including the bump stops. brutal...
