Hi all, swapped powersteering pumps about a month ago after getting some loud whining, hard steering, and noticing a leak at the housing o-ring. I changed all high pressure lines about a year ago.
After a lot of flushes and some vacuum bleeding I still have a faint whine and notice the steering catching sometimes when turning at low speeds. Is this a steering box issue or maybe a hydroboost issue? Any opinions are welcome.
never seen a vacuum succed on these, try the time tested and proven Ford specific method listed in the tech folder above, the system can be a PITA to bleed.bleecd

Succed = System...?
Meaning never seen a vacuum boost system on these vehicles? Funny the parts look up on Ford does show both Hydro, and Vacuum boost as OE equipment.
saying that vacuum bleeding has a place such as the brake system but on the steering there is a proven way tom do it and it isnt vacuum bleeding.
up in the tech folder is the step by step method that will work.

Have you clicked that? I’m asking for where it is located inside there. There is only one right up listed and it is for a power steering flush for a v10, which doesn’t appear to be applicable to a 7.3. Plus I don’t need flush instructions.
I have checked every sub folder except the superduty one as it keeps opening a new tab that is blank every time I click on it.
edit: I mean the tech folder link, not the superduty folder.
On my other vehicle, I raise up the front wheels off the ground and very slowly turn the steering wheel lock to lock 25-30 times. An assistant tells me when no more bubbles appear in the reservoir and adds fluid as needed. Being a V10er, I’m not sure about your smoker ps pumps. Eventually someone will chime in to help you.
That technique, with or without vacuum, has not seemed to get the air out this time.
